On June 30, 2025, St. Sava Serbian Orthodox School of Theology in Libertyville, Illinois, received official notice that on June 26, 2025 the Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE) granted us Candidate for Accreditation status (next step is full accreditation). This decision conditionally recognizes our degrees nationally and internationally and sets us on course towards full accreditation, the final step in this process.

Over the next 12–24 months we will carry out a comprehensive self-study, host multiple on-site evaluation team visits from MSCHE, and implement all recommendations to meet their rigorous standards.

We offer our heartfelt thanks to His Holiness, Patriarch Porfirije, and the members of the Holy Synod and the Holy Assembly of the Bishops of the Serbian Orthodox Church for their blessing and trust; to the Board of Trustees under the leadership of Metropolitan Longin; to the Accreditation Committee and each team member for their diligent work and guidance; to the MSCHE staff for their support and assistance at every step; to our professors, administration, and students for their steadfast commitment; and especially to Fr. Methodios for expertly guiding the entire accreditation effort. We also extend our gratitude to all who provide the School with moral and financial support, enabling the formation of a new generation of clergy who will continue the missionary work of our Serbian Orthodox Church.

This Candidate Status reflects our unwavering commitment to academic excellence, to preserving the sacred legacy of Saint Sava, and to advancing the educational and spiritual mission of our holy Church throughout the United States.

For further information, please contact the accreditation officer Fr. Methodios at accreditation@stsava.org.

With gratitude,

Very Rev. Dr. Aleksandar Novakovic

Dean
